Supervised iPad backups

Does anyone know a way of allowing supervised iPads to connect to a windows PC?

 

We have about 40 teacher iPads that are being supervised & i'd like the teachers to back these up themselves to their pcs, however they are getting This iPad is supervised by another computer, although allow to connect to non-configurator hosts is on in the profile. Is there a way around this?

Anyone? It's a weird one, i've tried on an iPad 2 & iPad air, the iPad air can connect to pcs the ipad2 can't, although they have the same profiles?

There is a tickbox when you are setting up AC/AC2 that says "Allow devices to pair with other computers" or "allow devices to connect to other macs" in the old version. This must be ticked and then it will work no problem. If this wasnt done when they were initially setup I dont think you can do it without resupervising them, which would mean wiping the devices.

Cheers, as far as i'm aware was ticked, also tried plugging into the Mac that was used to set these up, it shows up in configurator, however in iTunes i get the message "this iPad is supervised by another computer" the only thing I can think that may have caused it is that the HDD died on this mac a while back & was restored from a time machine backup?! Might be a case of wiping & resupervise, now just the small problem of trying to get a backup first, iCloud to the rescue?

If its photos you're after I used Onedrive when I had a similar issue. Saved my bacon for sure.

I can imagine photos to be the main bulk of it, some apps we use have built in backup, just will be specific apps to the teachers, and their progress in Temple Run

To update how I've managed to do this:-

 

Delete profiles & Backup iPad 1 to iCloud > Restore backup to a spare iPad > Backup the spare iPad to iCloud > Erase/unsupervise iPad 1 > Restore Spare iPad Backup to iPad 1 > Manually install profiles / Install via configurator.

 

This leaves the iPad unsupervised (which is what we want) however if you supervise with the "allow devices to connect to other macs" option selected i'd imagine it would work.

It's long winded but it's the only way i've managed it, restoring iPad 1 backup after unsupervising brought the AC profile back down with it & still had same error when connecting to another computer, even after unsupervising it, though AC saw it as an unsupervised iPad.

Why would you want them to backup their iPad? If they restore this backup then it would loose any management profiles that you have enforced.

I thought I'd read a while ago that you couldn't backup an iPad with iTunes once it has been supervised? Am I wrong? Or is it not a "backup" as such but just getting photos off that you are after?

Ive seen Supervised iPads "restored" from a cloud backup, thus ditching management profiles. This was way back in iOS 8 though I believe so things may have changed since then.
