nathan Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) We have an Office 365 subscription and have a select few users that have been manually enabled to download Office 2016 to test. All 3 of us now had the following issue and wondered if anyone had come across it. When randomly opening Outlook 2016 you get the following message; Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The Microsoft Exchange information service in your profile is missing required information. Modify your profile to ensure that you are using the correct Microsoft Exchange information service. Googling around, some mention it's an issue with autodiscover DNS settings. I've checked those settings using https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com and all seems fine other than at first, it tired to use a HTTPS connection - but it then went on to a HTTP connection. I'm sure autodiscover is working fine as it allows me to configure email clients using it. If i recreate the profile it works fine for a while then randomly i'll get this message again. The awful thing is that you can open Outlook fine, be sending emails and not realising they are stuck in your Outlook - Restart Outlook and you get the message. Has anyone else come across this and have any info on a fix? Edited December 10, 2015 by nathan
nathan Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Think i may have found an answer, i still have to recreate the Outlook profile so i'll still lose those emails. But hopefully this will resolve the bug. https://newsignature.com/articles/bug-alert-exterminate-autodiscover-bug-windows-10-microsoft-office
nathan Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Workaround #1 on that link didn't solve the issue, i'll test the second one now and feed back. Edited December 14, 2015 by nathan
mikes Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 did you fix this issue? I am testing windows 10 and office 2016 on my office desktop, I have this same missing profile info when trying to use Outlook 2016 to connect to my Exchange 2010 mailbox. We don't have autodiscover configured but have never needed it and have never had any problems with e-mail access before, both internally and externally using activesync. My experience of the new software has on the whole been negative. Why can't MS finish software before they release it?

As a whole Office 2016 has been great, just this one issue.
