dhobbs84 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Hi all, hopefully someone out there can shed some light on our wireless issue that we've had for a bit but wasn't that problematic until recently. 21 HP Access Points around school all POE back to HP ProCurve and HP Management Console with 3 SSIDs set up - Data, Internet and Guest. Data connects to internal network IP range with server and Internet Access, Internet goes straight out to the Internet and Guest goes through a separate broadband connection. There is no issues with the Internet or Guest networks, but occasionally (and now more frequently) the Data network either remains as Limited Access (no network or Internet) or will connect fully randomly (e.g. connect, disconnect 20+ times). I've checked the IP range and there doesn't appear to be any issues with number of addresses. The only other possible related network problem that we currently have is when we go to add a new computer to the domain, it is not able to find our .local domain and reports issues with DNS. You can get round this by manually entering the DC with its IP address as the DNS server and then you can add the computer to the network. Could this be related? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
mikkydoos Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Have you got the DNS settings right on the AP's ? I'd check that DHCP is getting issued correctly. EDIT: In fact, I had a very similar problem recently with a load of new PC's I put in. GPO's weren't applying unless I gave the machine a static IP address - only on some of them. The problem ended up being an SVR DNS record for the domain controller that had a) not been created b) disappeared from DNS I ran a dcdiag tons of times with no error until I did a dcdiag to test the DNS only. That showed up a missing record for the DC/DNS server (Funny I've just posted something else about dcdiag and dns) Might be worth a look. I was getting similar symptoms to you.
