Firefox issues - more than one copy open and locking being able to add Add Ons

Hi there......

I will fire these out into the IT hemisphere to see if anyone has had these issues......thanks for any advice....Firefox just seems to work better that Safari - maybe it's just me - hope I don't start a flame war! I say it works better but then I have these technical problems Safari doesn't so maybe I should take that back :)

Firefox seems to keep popping up on the macs 'Only one copy of Firefox can run at a time'. At first I though it was because 2 users were logged onto 2 macs and tried to open Firefox simultaneously but I have seen the error with just one person logged into one mac.

This sort of issue can occurr on a windows network if Firefox locks it's processs.....

Can you use Firefox simultaneously on a pure Mac Network? I've no experience of it.

Just to add more into the mix we run 'Centrify' here that stores out mac files on a windows network. It could be the issue but I don't think it's a Centrify issue - more a generic one. I read you can unlock the file but will I have to keep doing that every time? I can't see that working...

Another question. Can you lock down people being able to install Add Ons? I came across one method but it was so convoluted. I am suprised Firefox doesn't ask you for an admin password when installing Add Ons....considering how potentially dodgy some of them might be.

Any advice greatfully received. Thanks
