Plusnet modem?

I bought the Asus RT-AC68U from pcworld and I am about to join plusnet fibre extra. I am sure originally when I spoke to plusnet they said the router would be ok. Today they are saying that their router has a built in modem whereas the RT-AC68U does not so wont work on their system.

 

I still have a bt openreach modem from when I had Sky fibre. Does anyone know if I can connect that modem and then use the RT-AC68U? Plusnet used to supply a bt openreach modem and then a separate router but now the new one is a combined unit.

 

I can return the RT-AC68U if I have to but I would prefer it if I could use it.

Should be ok, I'm on PlusNet Fibre (Business), I use the BT modem then thats plugged into a pfsense box.

Should be fine as its the same modem used for PN from what I've seen on the forums just need to change your username and password.

Decided to return the rt-ac68u and get the dsl-ac68u instead.

you didnt request the awesomeness that is the Technicolour modem that Plusnet dish out to customers on fibre ? or have they gotten rid of that horror now ?

 

my parents have that and its the cheapest nastiest router I have seen, not seen anything that bad since I was on Plusnet and they were dishing out the awful Binatone USB ADSL modems

I did request their router too. Just as a backup.
