o365 Encryption Licenses

Morning All,

 

Now I feel my GoogleFu is failing me as I know I saw a thread on ehre about this, but my understanding was 365 Encryption should be included for free for schools now?

 

If so how do you get to it "Right's Management" isn't showing up as an option for me, and when I was looking through helpfiles it goes "Azure Rights Management Premium doesn’t work with the subscriptions you already have. You need to sign up with a new account"

 

Is there additional free stuff that needs subscribing too or should the standard facultystudent etc work?

I "purchased" 1 copy of the free Azure Rights Management licence and then followed the PowerShell steps to enable it as per a guide that was lurking out on the net.

Was it showing up in your account by default? Mine's only got "Azure Active Directory Premium" which is paid for :s

Nope, I've not signed up to Azure AD. I just went digging around in the licences and found it, applied it, did the PS then the next day I setup my mail rule

You should be able to add it for £0 from the purchase services page (I think its near the bottom) in the Office 365 portal. I think they are trying to roll the licenses into one so you don't need to do that but at the moment you still need to 'purchase' the service.

 

Once you apply it to user accounts you can activate Azure RMS from Azure AD.

None at all on mine, it does say on Microsofts blog that they're upgrading schools slowly up to Jan 16 though

 

I found a way to add it via the self sign up page, that's added 50000 ad-hoc licenses to my account But think it's still setting up in background as keep getting errors, so guess I'll wait a bit

Microsoft gave me a different store link which seemed to work. Just open up a support case from your Office365 portal

Are we not talking about two different things here? Rights Management surely needs to be enabled within tenant in order to then assign to users?

There's two options for it normally (as per everything in o365 now). The "you have a license given by work" and then "here go sign-up to website yourself". Obviously the second one is normally disabled because for companies anyone could start spending your money

 

But neither way seems to be working for me, doesn't show the licenses for the work one, and the sign up yourself one just errors when I try to manage it

Seems this the Rights Management licence has now be absorbed into the Office 365 Education for faculty subscription, labelled as Rights Managed Adhoc, thus no unnecessary setup required, other than creating the rule set in Exchange online.

 

Official response from the powers that be:

I have double checked the details of your account before the call. As you have the Office 365 Education offer the Rights Management is included in this offer. It means that you will not be able to find this offer in Purchase Services page as it has been merged with Office 365 Education and does not exist as stand-alone.

 

One of the attached screen grabs provides an indication of how you apply the licence to the users. The other grab shows the error message I also get in the Services - Rights Management section, however I'm guessing this is because this would only be active if the licence had to be procured/ activated in Azure.

 

I've tested it working this morning.

See that second error is what I get. The ad-hoc is the self-sign up which only appears once someone has tried, so I did that on test account.

 

But once you try to manage the setup e.g. Activate it it breaks with that Error :s And if it's not active it doesn't let you use it it seems, unless I'm missing the obvious as how do you enable the options for it?
