SIMS register to CSV or Excel

HI,

 

I am wanting to export the data on who was and wasnt in a particular class (intervention class) into an CSV or ideally a excel file but our resident SIMS expert doesn't seem to know how to do it. Can it be done?

 

If so how?

You'll want to look at the 'School > Class/Group' focus areas in report designer. You can filter down by class or group name (depends how they were set up as to where they'll appear; only timetabled classes will appear in 'Class', whereas all groups will show in 'Group'), set the effective date if you want to look at the group retrospectively.

Is it class membership you are interested in, or actual attendance?

If attendance, how do you take the attendance?

For class membership, I usually use Reports - > Student List - > Class List. You can set the effective date for whenever you need it.

It is the actual attendanced non attendance data I am after.

 

We take it as any other class via SIMs

Some of the built-in attendance reports should also do this for you then.

I thought there must be some but I cannot find them, any chance you could point me in the right direction?

Well, there are so many, you'd have to play around with them, now they don't go to CSV or Excel automatically, they are built to print to web / screen.

You can get an XML output, or even put in your own SXLT stylesheet to lay it out yourself, but it's a lot of work.

 

I've found that for most purposes you can copy and paste the table out of the webpage into Excel, and with a little tidying it's fine, so it really depends what you intend to do with it.
