Windows 10/Office 2016 - MAPI Send Mail Command

Hi All,

 

Hopefully somebody may be able to help me. I may cry ...

 

I may have made the foolish decision to roll out our new PC's with Windows 10. Two of the machines that I am replacing are in our Finance Office and we run Corero Resource 32000.

 

When processing an order in Resource there is the ability to email orders. This uses a Send Mail MAPI. I have checked all of the default settings and made sure that the computer is aware that this is the case. I attach a screenshot.

 

 

When you try and send a order from Resource I get the following error: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.".

 

I have Googled it and used some of the most common solutions, such as deleting the subkey in regedit and repairing the install. This didn't work. I have also completely uninstalled and reinstalled Office.

 

The weird thing is that after the computer has complained about the lack of default client an Outlook message does open as Resource intends but Resource throws up a load more errors because it has been under the impression that Outlook is not the default.

 

Does anybody have a solution that may work?

Silly question, do you have 64bit office installed?

Not a silly question at all. Be prepared for a silly answer!

 

I have just thought about this and yes I have. Just downloading the 32-bit ISO from VLSC as we speak.

If the finance thingy is 32bit it won't load even DLLS for MAPI if they're 64bit. So worth a try

There are ways to pikey it in the background if you really want 64bit office, but if you don't need it I'd say just stick with 32bit to make life easier at least for those 2 machines
