Access 2007 is very good for people who don't know what the hell they are doing by automating most processes like converting a table into a form.

How ever when our teachers are trying to teach the students you don't want access to automate things and set up forms automatically.

for example when you select blank database you automatically get a table with a primary key already inserted. how do you stop these wizards as i have found nothing in GPO's (infact nothing useful at all).

This is exactly why I prefer to use OpenOffice. I have been doing databases with year 9, using OpenOffice Base and it is very much like Access <2003. You might like to give it a try (especially since it is free!).

In addition, Openoffice can use a 'real' database backend (mysql etc) so it should be easier to teach real world applications. It makes scalability a lot easier too if students progress into php etc.
