wesleyw Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I've just install a new motherboard ASUS P5KPL-VM which has RealTek HD Audio onboard. However I ran the driver setup and towards the end it detected new hardware and started to look for drivers for a Media Device. The error message is "The Device's Co-Install is invalid" then it finishes and although it has installed the RealTek manager and in device manager it shows up the codec and realtek drivers there is "no device installed" when you go to the control panel? Every time I try and run the new 1.84 drivers from the website it states that the driver could not be installed! Any ideas would be very well received! Wes
Joanne Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 well i've had drivers like that where you just leave them for 5 min and that found new hardware box goes away. It installs it automatically, but for some reason shows that. Have you tried that?
wesleyw Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Well in the end I bite the bullet as it were used system restore to go back to before I'd installed the RealTek drivers. Installed all the other hardware drivers first then downloaded version 1.84 from their site ran the install seemed to work was left looking for new hardware rebooted and the device was there
Kyle Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 There is a patch you should install for XP Sp2 for the HD audio. I had the same problem on a recent batch of computers we had it. I created the image from a Vanilla SP2 RIS image and then applied the patch before the driver. Can't find the link now but Google with I bet.
Geoff Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Info in this KB article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111 The realtek driver should come with the UAA patch. That was certainly the case for me recently with a laptop I upgraded to XP from Vista
bizzel Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I created a script to automate the setup and install of the drivers + the patch. If you want I'll send you it tomorrow.
