Impero would like to say a big thank you to former CEO and founder, Jon Valentine as he leaves the business.Having gone from a small start-up company, to a private equity backed medium-sized player recently, Impero now embarks on its next phase of business growth under the leadership of newly appointed CEO, Sam Pemberton. Sam has extensive experience driving international expansion, particularly in the United States, and has a strong track record in the technology sector. As a parent himself, and his wife a teacher, Sam is familiar with Impero’s flagship product Education Pro, and has innovative plans for the direction of the development roadmap.

Sam comments “I know first-hand just how tough it is to set up and establish a new company, and I would personally like to pay kudos to Jon for doing so. The extended team and I are passionate about doing a great job as we move out of our start-up phase and look to solidify Impero as a world leader in EdTech software.”

Meet the new CEO, Sam Pemberton, and discuss his Impero vision at Bett 2016 – you’ll find him on stand D350.

Impero Software – a company providing sophisticated software products to the education sector – has appointed Sam Pemberton as its new CEO, and Darren Forster as the new CTO to lead the company’s expansion and future solution development. The company is backed by private equity house Connection Capital of London, and has full-service offices in the United Kingdom and the United States. Pemberton, who most recently worked as an advisor to VC and private equity companies looking to improve shareholder returns, has years of experience leading tech companies to strong levels of international growth. From 2007 to 2013 Pemberton was CEO of the Softel Group, which sold software and hardware solutions in to the global television and ‘second screen’ media markets. In this role, he doubled profits each year from 2010 to 2013 and led the Group through a successful M&A exit process, culminating in a trade sale to Belden which delivered 12x returns to Softel shareholders.

In his new role, Pemberton will draw upon his extensive experience of increasing international sales, particularly in the US, to drive Impero’s international growth strategy. Before joining Softel as CEO, Pemberton founded a metadata company in California, which expanded to open offices in New York and Denver. Following significant expansion he sold the company in 2006.

On his appointment, Pemberton comments: “I am thrilled to be joining Impero’s impressive team at such an exciting time of growth for the company. Its innovative e-safety platform is at the frontline of online safety initiatives for schools worldwide, and I look forward to introducing Impero, and its range of remote monitoring and management solutions, to educators internationally.”

Impero has also appointed Darren Forster as its new CTO. Forster has held a range of director and VP positions in technology companies, giving him unrivalled technical experience alongside strong commercial understanding. Like Pemberton, Forster has previously worked internationally including in the United States, and at his last company grew sales from his product lines to in excess of $25 million worldwide. Between 2008 and 2013 Forster worked with Pemberton as CTO at Softel Group.
