Ext Hard Drive Read as RAW

Read as RAW in Computer Management in Vista

 

Plug it into XP and I can read the files no problem

 

Its a FREECOM 500GB external Hard drive

 

I have another Freecom Drive that reads OK on Vista

 

Any ideas

What's it formatted as?

Its NTFS

 

I have done a disk check via XP using the Error checking and ticking the 2 boxes

Have you tried this ? Raw Partition solution - recover data from raw partitions.

 

Usually trying to get data from RAW can damage the data, I think.

If you're able to get the data from the drive and maybe try a reformat as NTFS to see if fixes the issue.

Is it only vista causing the issue, do you have windows 7 / 8.1 / 10 to see if the same issue happening?

Right click on it in Computer Management

 

Choose "Assign Drive Letter"
