my wife (school primary bursar) wants to set up emailing orders from SIMs Finance

She needs the mailserver name but Westfield said she had to see her local tech!

In the old days (pre Office365) - Lancs ran their own mailservers outlook.lancngfl.ac.uk etc

Is their an office 365 equivalent??

Well thats interesting - My wife tried the smtp.office365.com settings but no luck

BTSL got back to her when she asked them again with

smtp.education.btsl.co.uk

587 and TLS

and she says that works

While we are in Cumbria, when we moved to Office 365 a couple of years back, I needed to request that 587 was opened across our range to enable sending of mail. Might explain why it's blocked for you to the standard Office 365 address but allowed for the BTLS address

This will work via standard SMTP port 25. It does talk about MFP's but works with everything else including SIMS FMS

In Lancs?

Which bit of the 100 page doc? :)

(Doesn't matter cause the smtp.education... 587 works OK but just interested if another way works :)

Just call the BTLS helpdesk, Martin Q helped me with it.

ROTFLOL

The reason for orig post was that my wife rang BTLS and the person that dealt with the call (not Martin unfortunately) told her that her school technician would be able to sort it and that they couldn't help!

After she contacted me to check the veracity of this (I won't tell you the words I used) she emailed them back to ask a second time :)

This is why we need Edugeek as we now have documentation on this for others to find in future :)

Recently implemented this and the settings are

·Mail server : smtp.education.btlsl.co.uk

·Port number : 587

·Use TLS Encryption

·Requires Authentication

·Username and Password: (must be a valid Office365 account)

·Return email address: (must be a valid office365 account and identical to the one entered above)

Please note the mail server is BTLSL and not BTLS which is what was catching us out.
