Airplay issues

Airplay has been working fine till recently, we use onscreen passcode as authentication however when inputting the code on the iPad it's just not accepting it. Has anything changed recently ? e.g. ports / addresses on smoothwall etc.

 

Latest iOS and latest bonjour (pulled from the latest itunes exe)

 

Anyone else encountered this ?

Are you using Apple TVs or AirServer?

 

We were using AirServer 3.0.19 and when iOS 9 was released, it was no longer compatible (showing up as audio only, not picture)

 

We then upgraded to AirServer 4.0.20.2 which was compatible with iOS 9 but broke on-screen passcode like you describe.

 

AirServer just released version 4.0.23 this weekend which i'm going to test this morning.

I did wonder why the classrooms were showing as a speaker instead, explains it - so it's not just me. Thanks for the heads up on the new version, I'll give it a try myself.

Airserver 4.0.23 seems to have sorted al of the windows 7,8.1,10/ios8,9 problems we had. We were using different versions depending on what device os was being used. (only the second major issue with staff having byod rather than school-owned managed devices)

Just a warning, there is a new requirement for version 4,0,20 which is C++ redistributable but i couldn't find an msi for it so i had to install it using a script from sccm.

Change your ESS settings on your AP's/wifi Controller .....vport to "Till Association" .....We have a Meru wifi system with AP320's IOS9 update killed wifi on the devices which had been upgraded .....just for information we use a Debian linux server which has vlans setup on it's ethernet interface and it rebroadcasts all the bonjour traffic via Avahi-Daemon ....works flawlessly and broadcasts bonjour traffic including printers over 18 vlans ......I think we last rebooted it about 5 months ago ;-)

Just to confirm 4.0.23 seems to have fixed it, I really don't like it when software regresses...

@Draconis running avahi on a raspberry pi here, been going strong for over 2 years currently has 6 months uptime

iOS 9 had a major overhaul regarding AirPlay protocol possibly due to HomeKit devices in future when they become commonplace and connectivity surrounding them. AirServer latest, sort out our issues with iOS 9.
