This is a problem with possibly two factors:

1. When using Windows Update it has a Lifecam update which states that it needs to start a seperate install. When you click ok you hear a 'bing' as if it has begun but no dialog boxes appear either on the screen or on the taskbar. The Windows Update screen then locks and you have to close it via the taskbar icon.

2. A app declared that it has an update and to 'click here' to update now. This then starts a download progress bar which fills. Then you hear the 'bing' and the app closes as if ready to auto-initiate the update process. Then, as with the LifeCam update, nothing.

There is nothing in the logs and I have tried this with the AV - malware disabled too. No installs listed in task manager either.

I'm suspecting it may be a permissions issue (one which the vendors would have to fix) but the lack of log entries is annoying.
