maxrebo Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Hi, I'm looking for ideas on a transparent proxy to use. Im setting up our Wireless network using Meru captive portal. We have Sophos UTM as our Firewall/ Gateway. New to transparent proxying so might be able to use something in Sophos UTM? Can i use Smoothwall as a transparent proxy to forward on requests to our UTM? Cheers
Asgard Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 The Sophos UTM has a transparent proxy built into it. We have both a standard proxy for our desktop fleet and a transparent proxy for our BYOD wireless (eduroam) - also using the inbuilt UTM DHCP server for our BYOD - it's setup and you forget about it [emoji106] Drop me a PM and I'll show you our UTM setup over a Skype/teamviewer session. John Paul

John Paul I've got the same, but with the Home licence We filter my sons web use so we have a standard proxy for his desktop and a transparent for his mobile and tablet The trick is getting the right sequence setup in the UTM Works a treat - once I figured out how to do it!
