Kyle Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I have just installed Sims Workstation on a computer. The computer has 750mb ram and a P4 2.8. It has took what seems like an eternity (20mins) to install. What should be a normal time to do this?
woody Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 It takes on average here around 5 mins, little slower on older PCs, faster on the newer desktops. A number of things can affect install / upgrade speed: 1) Antivirus (sophos in particular when running run on-access scanning) 2) Age of your PC 3) Age of the Sims server 4) Speed of your network. 5) Peak usage times, ie just after an update when all the teacher's machines are updating too. Or at first login in the morning. Hope this gives you some pointers
Kyle Posted January 14, 2008 Author Posted January 14, 2008 Looks like its Sophos. Do you mean on access scanning on the Sims server or on the workstation I am installing it on.
Athlona Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Hi I have installed SIMs MANUALLY on over 150 pc's each taking between 3-5mins, these PC`s are very low spec compared to yours Are you installing SIMs Manually or deploying SIMs?
