Arreks Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 All announced at EGX. Ship-Launched Fighters can be docked in your ship's hold to give you a far greater range of options to tackle any situation in which you find yourself. Deploy your fighter under AI control or take the stick yourself and fly into battle while your mothership lies in wait. Multi-Crew lets you fly in the same ship with friends, which will up the intensity and camaraderie levels of a joint mission even further! You’ll be able to share and alternate control of weapons systems, turrets and flight duties to multiply your effectiveness. Even to the extent of piloting a ship-launched fighter and working in combination with the mothership. It’ll be especially useful in some of the very large trading ships coming in season two. The all-new Commander Creator brings your in-game presence to life for the first time, and lets you identify friends with a quick glance across your ship's bridge. Its the first step in the longer term plans we have for you, Commander… This is all coming, in Horizons! Can't wait. [source] 1
ZeroHour Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Nice! I got 1 of the EGX skin codes this morning as well, complete luck.
flyinghaggis Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) Loads of cool sounding features coming with the Horizons expansion by the sounds of it. I really hope they can flesh out some of the mission scenarios as the current range is a bit limited. They could do with more random encounters whilst flying around between places. Maybe something like finding that a space station is being raided by pirates or other similar scripted scenarios to keep things fresh as the missions can get pretty repetitive. I'd hate to see Frontier end up trying to diversify the game by adding things like planetary landings and in game avatars if it's at the expense of spending the time focussing on some of the core aspects of the game like the mission structures and the randomly generated encounters. I've still pre-ordered it anyway as Horizons sounds awesome and there's nothing else quite like Elite: Dangerous out there at the moment! Edited September 25, 2015 by flyinghaggis
ICTDirect_Dave Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Yeah this is very exciting! I loved doing multi-crew ships way back in StarWars Galaxies. Love the idea of bombing down to the docking bay in a big behemoth and leaping into a Viper when things get tricky!
ernie_r Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Anyone been testing the Horizons Beta last few months? Have had to throw out my poor old GTX 750ti to really enjoy planet life in its full graphic gratuity and stab for a 960 but hay! from what I've already seen with the 750 boy! will it be wholly worth it.

ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I touched down on a planet for the first time last night. My 970 runs it runs beautifully on max settings at 2560x1440. Gonna have a proper joyride tonight!
ernie_r Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Santa got me a GTX 960 4gig model and down-sampling to 2560x1440 59hz works a treat on my 37" Panasonic TV; planet detail is now awesome.
