tj2419 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Is anyone else having internet issues this morning? Ours is running really slow. Awaiting a call back from an engineer. Cheers
sted Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 seems ok here (leeds fttc if it makes any odds)
IrritableTech Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Currently doing 25Mbps and we've peaked at ~90Mbps in the last hour. No obvious signs of slowing down here...
tj2419 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Cheers good to know. Used sp detest.net and it showed us ranging between 7mb and 0.5!! Normally 90mb odd.

I find speedtest.net hugely inaccurate generally. You need to think about contention on your connection for a start - if a teacher down the corridor is downloading a video from their cloud storage for example, your results will vary massively. Before thinking about who is hitting the same server as you at the same time. We monitor the switch port connecting to the SB router to get a better idea of what all devices are using at any one time. We use the dude - free and fairly easy to setup. You should have access to look at your microtik router port though, which produces the same type of data - I think that's still the case for everyone isn't it @SchoolsBroadband? 2

Sure you can monitor the ports and see what is happening. We can also login to your onsite router and see how much traffic is going through. The guys on support can do this for you easily. We can also do a speedtest from your router back to one in our core as well which will show if the line is fine too. We've no network issues at all this morning, everything seems to be running happily. Speedtest.net does generally suck....
tj2419 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Thanks @SchoolsBroadband. Engineers managed to resolve it for us nice and quickly. It turned out to be a bug with the firmware our router was on. They remoted over, upgraded the firmware and restarted and all was good again. Have to say great speedy service! Much better than our previous supplier was. 1
SchoolsBroadband Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Well if you'd like to shout out about how great we are then I certainly won't complain Thanks for the compliments! Dave
