timbo343 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Within my VM setup, i have a VEEAM server set as a VM. I would just check in on the Hosts and see what their processing and RAM allocations are and i was amazed to see one of my hosts had reached the 128Gb limit. I went through each VM to see which one was using all the allocated RAM and it turns out the VEEAM server was hogging all the RAM. I have now turned the maximum allocated RAM down to 12Gb however it seems VEEAM is trying to hog all the RAM, i bet if i gave it 20Gb it would hog that too. Is there something wrong with my program? Is this a "feature" of VEEAM and i was wondering what other people's VEEAM VMs/servers are set to.
Steve21 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 When you say Veeam do you mean it's SQL database? As obviously that will eat whatever it can by default. We have 32GB on the Veeam server and have roughly 50% on Dedup set, and 50% for SQL Steve
Diello Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I've found this occuring with existing backup chains in the past, and ended up having to start a new one.
timbo343 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Its the VEEAM Data Collector Service which is hogging everything at the moment.
timbo343 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 I've found this occuring with existing backup chains in the past, and ended up having to start a new one. Does this mean having to create a full backup??
timbo343 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 The big penny in the sky has just dropped, i installed VEEAM One on the backup server to give me an overview of the servers, ive never used it and that is what was taking up all the memory.
