Hi All,

I have been asked to help out a primary school who are having a few problems, first one is that they have some new machines and cant them working properly,

They have used the build tool in the management console, but once complete the users profiles don't seem to load correctly, any logs I can check? if so where?

Any little gotchas with RM on how to do things, completely new to RM hence why I am asking?

Cheers in advance.

Hi Dastrix,

You could always check the RM Management Console for any problems that may have occured during the build process.

Login > Expand "Tasks" and click "History"

This will show all tasks that have been completed, you will normally see "Successful, Warning or Failed" you can click on the task to see the details of what happened.

If you can see the computer in the RMMC, i would suggest right clicking on it and selecting "Tasks" then "Update System Packages". This will refresh all the core RM packages on the machine and could resolve your profile problems. Make sure no one is using the computer when you do this.

If this doesnt work it could be a problem with the profile settings, what isnt loading correctly when they login?

Thanks I'll give these things a try, although I seem to have got to the bottom of some issues, so do RM Build these images are we able to customise them?

The base image for the OS is provided by RM, you can then customise what packages are installed, drive configuration, administrator password and other configuration options.

More RM questions so do RM provide windows licenses? or is this normally provided by the school if so where do you customise the Key?

And secondly what would you recommend we do if we have computers showing up as offline in the RM console, however i get remote them?

It's not my school I am just trying to help out, they do have a contract but not with RM and it appears they are getting duff info from the supplier, hence why I am asking a few things.

What do the computers look like in the rmmc? are they greyed out (would indicated not built properly, update system packages is good for this as stated before) or do they show correctly as online? in the program files folder there should be an rm folder which should have a bootstrapper log which details the build process
