Tring to get WOL working across vlans.

WOL works fine on same vlan

Across vlans it is blocked

All switches are HP

There are no ACL's between the 2 vlans.

Can ping and connect to target PC's (when switched on)

Have enabled "ip directed-broadcast" on core switch

Any ideas?

TechMonkey is right you have to forward the UDP port that your WOL utility is using on the core switch, I found that mc-wol would use random ports so I used WOLcmd so you can specify the port.

Hope that helps.

In relation to this I am currently working on a WoL over multiple VLANs but I cant reconfigure the Core Switch without testing first...

So our HP Procurve test switch is reporting back that we must "Enable IP routing support" before it will allow me to use the commands.

This is my first time trying to sort out a switch to this degree. Its a little bit of a project for me.

So my question is will Enabling IP routing cause problems, IE I am not going to break our network by doing this because I believe that my network managers would be less than impressed xD
