abillybob Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Hello All, Trying to install Windows 10 Pro from VLSC via an ISO image on bootcamp. The MacBook is the brand new one seen here. It goes fine and will create the USB drive with Windows 10 install media but as soon as it goes to 'Downloading Windows Support Software' it just hangs and won't move, I've left it for 3 hours and nothing. I have also checked networking in activity monitor but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there anything I can do about this, I read up online that bootcamp version 6 is the version that supports Windows 10, could it be that as the MacBook I have is stating it's version 5.1 but it's got the latest updates from the App Store? Or is there a website that I can download all the files from? I've done a search and found Apple's direct download from the website but when looking at system requirements none of them say for Windows 10 and none of them say for this particular new MacBook. Any help would be most appreciated guys, the teacher of whom I'm setting this up for is not very patient!!!!! Thanks
Arthur Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Here's the direct link to the drivers you need (for MacBook8,1)... http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/28/26/031-24514/qx7ph7k6mewtcf4eyhxmiilgc7r2ikjgud/BootCampESD.pkg Btw, you could install Windows without BootCamp. 1
Arthur Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Something else you might be interested in a program called Brigadier. It enables you to download and extract the BootCamp drivers on any Windows PC. e.g. brigadier.exe --model MacBook8,1 That's how I found the URL above.
