Hyper-V, Ubuntu and Linux 3.16.0-48 - Don't use this kernel

So, it appears there is a rather catastrophic bug in the latest kernel released for Ubuntu, 3.16.0-48.

 

Basically, the system will kernel panic randomly caused by something to do with the networking module.

I was scratching my head as to why the network kept dropping on a new test VM yesterday, until I found this bug report!

 

So, for now, if you have updated to this kernel, your best bet is to revert to the prior kernel!

Been getting this problem and couldn't workout what was happening. Just about to ask if anyone else was getting it. Rolled back to a previous kernel.

That explains an awful lot! I thought it was it was something in my hyperv setup causing it to fail as my other Ubuntu web servers are functioning fine - checked and they using an older kernel.
