iPad on VLAN2 mirror to wired Mac w/ AirServer on VLAN1 - Ruckus Bonjour Gateway

Hi everyone - I'm just throwing out some info in case someone runs into the same issue I was having.

 

My general setup:

 

• 
  
• Ruckus ZoneDirector
  
• Bonjour Gateway setup on ZoneDirector advertising AirPlay and AppleTV from VLAN1 to VLAN2
  
• Layer III firewall on the ZoneDirector applied to Student WIFI has the following ports open from student subnet to faculty/classroom subnet: 7000,7100,5000,6010,6011,6012,5002
  
• Student ipads on VLAN2
  
• Wired PC and Macs running AirServer on VLAN1
  
• 
  

 

The take-away here is that until I figured out (using Wireshark) that port 5002 needs to be open, this setup was not working for Students trying to mirror to Macs - the PCs were fine.

 

Perhaps this is common knowledge, but AirServer's docs don't mention port 5002 (at least none that I've found)
