Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has tried to use Exchange 2013 on Server Core.

All I've been able to find on the web is

"No. Microsoft only allows Exchange 2013 roles on servers running a full installation of Windows Server."

However, it seems to run perfectly well (if not better) on a Server Core system - I'm using Server 2012 R2 for reference.

Can post some short instructions if anyone wants to give it a go - it's completely unsupported but I've had a grand total of 0 problems with it.

Okay so if you run into any problems and need to log a case with M$ they wont help you.............not a very smart move.

Looks like Exchange 2016 wont be supported in this either "We don’t support the installation of Exchange 2016 on a computer that’s running in Windows Server Core mode."

People really should go by Microsoft best practices.

One powershell command and it's back up to a full install with GUI so that isn't really an issue - I can live with the downtime of one reboot if necessary.

I'm fully aware of that!
