cperry1 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Hi everyone, Just had a request from a teacher to see if there was a way to open and edit Google Doc files in Word directly from Google Drive without having to download and re-upload them each time. I have done some digging online but to no avail Thanks in advance.
cperry1 Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Thanks for the reply. It wasn't quite what they wanted though. The staff want to be able to edit a document created in Google Docs in Word itself. When opening a Google Doc in Word with that plugin, it opens the Google Docs app in the web browser.
elsiegee40 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) While you can open and edit M$ Office docs in Drive (and Open Office), the reverse is not possible as far as I am aware @cperry1. The document would need to be saved as an M$ Office document first. Edited August 17, 2015 by elsiegee40
cperry1 Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 I thought as much. Thanks again for your help.
