jmak Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 This is one slow train! My phone arrived today (yay*), but no sign of an invite. I will pass it/them on here as soon as I get it. *Still in the box as I promised myself I wouldn't touch the screen until I had a screen protector - that's due tomorrow....
Garacesh Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 This is one slow train! They always are, unfortunately. Even for the One, on the official OnePlus forums, the trains were pretty slow. And sometimes not everyone gets one from the train, they get 'em elsewhere. But it is what it is. Half of it is a game of chance to be honest, which is why I did the whole buy-to-sell thing here.. As someone that broke my first OPO and then had to wait in line for another, I know how frustrating it can be xD 1

jmak Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 :what::banghead: Now my day at work is going to drag! What a damned good idea though Anyone want to buy a one plus 2 tempered glass screen protector? Probably not much of a market for them if everyone who had the phone already has one.... In defence of my position, they are on the accessory list on the one plus site.

Mine arrived at about 10am the other day and I had to sit all day at work then go for a driving lesson afterwards before I got to play with my new toy
Garacesh Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Anyone want to buy a one plus 2 tempered glass screen protector? Probably not much of a market for them if everyone who had the phone already has one.... A) Keep it as a spare if it's OnePlus' official one. B) If it's third-party, it's probably stronger. I found OnePlus' official ones rather fragile (for the One, at least) - I now exclusively use Orzly for my screen protectors as they've been fabulous. I know that feel. Mine arrived at about 10am the other day and I had to sit all day at work then go for a driving lesson afterwards before I got to play with my new toy You could've given me your work address. That one's on you, buddy How're you finding it? Edited September 24, 2015 by Garacesh
TomDrummer Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 You could've given me your work address. That one's on you, buddy How're you finding it? I know, I'm whinging at myself, not you I'm enjoying it so far. The camera's great, the hardware feels really solid, I like the app permissions control and the 64gb storage is just wonderful. USB C is a pain for device connection, thus I've had to buy an adapter, but that's the only gripe I have with the thing. The whole thing feels like a really high-end phone.
Garacesh Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) USB C is a pain for device connection, thus I've had to buy an adapter Oh really? How so? It comes with a USB-A/Male to USB-C/Male cable. I have to admit it did feel nice to hold, and there was a niggling part of me that wanted to say "Deal's off. I'm keeping it" xD Edited September 24, 2015 by Garacesh
abillybob Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Yeah the USB-C annoys me too. Need to buy new adapter for my car and stuff now!!! I don't know why they did that as it's only 5gbps transfer rates not the full USB-C 10gbps so bit of waste of time really. Seems OnePlus haven't sorted out their 3G issues either, I find I get much slower speeds on 3G and it will intermittently drop connection on my OPT exactly the same as what happened on my OPO. I'm on Three by the way! Put my SIM in the nexus and it's super fast again. EE is supposed to be better due to the band they use over the wireless signal! Apart from those two gripes it's a lovely phone.

Apart from those two gripes it's a lovely phone. The OPO uses some odd celluar frequencies AFAIK. From what I read, there are 3 different frequencies on which mobile companies can use for mobile data (Let's call them A, B and C). Most companies only use two (say, A/B) and the OPO only receives two (B/C). EE use B and C, and apparently one other company does (but I forget who..) Though I read the OPT is supposed to support all 3 bands now, so it should be good with all companies? It does? 0.o I feel a bit like Jmak now. Well one of us is wrong ... But it definitely came with a charging cable, don't you remember the photos I sent you? (I'd find them but we block imgur here)

I know it came with a cable, I just had no idea it was A to C. Every day is a school day, ey? Hm. Well, now I'm starting to doubt myself xD But I can't see why it wouldn't be an A-C cable. The A-side of the cable was specially made to be double-sided, so that, combined with the phone being a C.. I presume the other end is a C (which is double-sided by design)

Mine arrived at about 10am the other day and I had to sit all day at work then go for a driving lesson afterwards before I got to play with my new toy I was so restrained I didn't even look at it! Cos I knew if I did, it would end up with fingerprints and dust specs on the screen. The good news is that it's an Orzly that's on its way. I could have had the phone on Monday, but missed the delivery - I didn't get the notifications that it'd left China etc. Then I left the card at home on Tuesday, collected last night. At least I can play tonight even if the screen protector doesn't make it.... In other news, the cable that comes with it does fit any USB A adaptor (as well as the one that comes with it - I did get the charger out). I've also ordered a 5 pack of USB C cables so that I can have one in each car and one at work Edited September 24, 2015 by jmak

I had to sit with a stanley knife to cut mine down properly to fit it into the phone.
jmak Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Do you have one of those really tiny SIM cards? I had to sit with a stanley knife to cut mine down properly to fit it into the phone. Giff gaff. The SIMs they supply are pre-cut so that you can just pop out the size you need
Garacesh Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 The good news is that it's an Orzly that's on its way. Indeed. Orzly have done me well so far. I kind of.. drop my phone a lot.. So yeah. I've gone through about 3 on this phone lol. But they break, and my screen doesn't, so that's good ^^ (as well as the one that comes with it - I did get the charger out) Then tell us, it's USB-A/Male to USB-C/Male, right? Tell me I'm right Pleeaase? Do you have one of those really tiny SIM cards? I had to sit with a stanley knife to cut mine down properly to fit it into the phone. Most phones take microsim now, since there's really no reason to have all that extra cardboard. You'd have had to do it sooner or later lol.
jmak Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Then tell us, it's USB-A/Male to USB-C/Male, right? Tell me I'm right Pleeaase? Yep I tried it in a few chargers I have and the A end plug is a good snug fit. The only question is what excuse there is for no one else doing it yet and why it isn't the default standard already.
Arreks Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (but I forget who..) I'll commission you to find out who! if it's O2 I may be less likely to get one..
Garacesh Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I'll commission you to find out who! if it's O2 I may be less likely to get one.. In the UK LTE runs on 800MHz, 1800MHz / 1.8GHz and 2600MHz / 2.6GHz (Source) This (Google Cached) Reddit Thread mentions LTE working for EE and 3. Multiple OnePlus forum posts mention the phone not using the 800Mhz band. According to this Wikipedia page, EE uses 1800MHz and 2600MHz, and 3 uses both 1800MHz and 800Mhz. Vodaphone and O2 only use 800MHz so you won't get LTE. So it looks like your options are 3 or EE.
