Office 2013

Well I had intended to roll out 2013 this summer, but I think its going to be a non starter!

 

I got a installation built use the Customisatio Kit, so I have an msp file to remove the old version and install the new versions - deploying that works but every time a user starts anything you get the mini installation 'Please wait while etc'

 

This happens for every new user as we don't use roaming profiles. And then when its finally finished they are given a proxy dialogue box as it seems to be attempting to connect to the store.office.com. Why can't I just deploy office like a normal program for once!

 

Anyone else done this? I used to put the Office settings in the default user profile to avoid the mini install but that's not working anymore.

Office doesn't like authenticated proxies, add a list of exemptions for MS/Office sites on your proxy. The "mini install" I'm almost certain can be gotten rid of if you setup all the relevant Office MSP customisation and group policy objects. If you don't want to whitelist those sites from authentication, then disable Office's online functionality: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/891158

 

It's been a while since I deployed Office 2013, but we don't get that installer at all on new users.

I've managed to get rid of the authentication issues with the proxy, and using the msp I still get the mini install.

 

It doesn't cleanly removed the older version either - it seems to leave 2010 behind. Manual uninstall and install seems to be the best way forward!

There's a fix it here which I've been running just to make sure it's all gone.
