PHAICT2 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 As title really... Cannot for the life of me understand why this is happening. I log in as a user, it shows [email protected] ( we made the [email protected] the reply address as suggested elsewhere ) but when I sent an email to another account (my onsite exchange and offsite personal) it shows [email protected]. Primary email address in the user is our chosen sub domain address too. Basically we're at this last hurdle, and I can't workout why email is still coming from .onmicrosoft.com and not the subdomain address we have specified. Am I missing something really daft?
JRowley Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Have you changed the user's UPN to your subdomain rather than an internal domain?
PHAICT2 Posted July 24, 2015 Author Posted July 24, 2015 Yes, the strange thing is if we create a 'new user' in AD and sync it with Azure AD sync, the resulting office 365 account sends emails fine 'from [email protected]', but all the current students are sending emails from [email protected] and we can't work out why. Something has 'got' to be pulled across different from the 'new' user account in AD, when it syncs. So we deleted a user in Office, turned off the AD Sync and made sure all the details were right in the AD account. Turned sync back on and it pulled the account we deleted back through, BUT it still sends emails from .onmicrosoft.com. So irritating.
Steve21 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 You changed the proxyaddress attribute in AD and tried it? Steve
Steve21 Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 To expand that, we found here (although it was setup before I joined) that users created before a certain date (guessing sometime during the setup) always show as onmicrosoft unless you set the proxyaddress, and new users work fine. If you set that in the users (has to be capital) it'll use that as the default address always as the priority. Obviously if a lot of users would want to script the changes in AD Steve
