Lately I’ve been setting up a number of DeployStudio Servers for other college sites so I figured since it only takes 15-20mins to set one up from scratch that I’d create a quick video on doing so.

 

In my test environment I was running a separate domain to show how it would look for those running their servers on a domain like a College/University or other large institutions.

Hi I'm hoping you'll pick this up Carter, I've just upgraded our Mac minis which we use as Mac servers to Yosemite, updated deploy studio, and ran into a small hiccup.

When I try and creat new NetBoot images when it runs through I get an error which says there is no recovery partition, the minis are raided and after trawling the internet I can't seem to find a way of creating a recovery partition to finish the creation of the NetBoot.

I've just watched your awesome video which has clarified lots.

Would this problem Go away if I stored everything in a share as you do in the video, or do you have any other ideas.

This is a known issue. When I've gone to create images and the computer doesn't have a recovery partition I've mounted a recovery partition as a disc image or from another external Hard Drive/Mac. Also I can't remember 100% but I think if you mount an OS X Install disc it will also work to get you by.

Well thanks for that Carter, I managed to get past that hurdle to jump into another, I now have new NetBoot sets but when you launch a client pxe boot I get a version conflict, after spending far too much time trying to rectify I've decided I'm going to start again from scratch, I didn't do the initial installation so would feel much happier doing it myself, also there's a new version of deploystudio which I'm hoping will rectify some of the issues.
