Office 365 DirSync

Need a bit of help here. I have a client that is a charity and have Office 365 Non-Profit approved.

 

I am looking at setting up DirSync to be able to move the emails from on-site exchange to Office 365.

 

Anyone give me any pointers on where to start with this?

 

Current setup is:

2 DC's - 1 windows server 2008 and 1 windows server 2012r2.

On-site exchange 2010

Start at the top and work your way down

Cut over migration is potentially the simplest route to take for a small org.

So you say to use Azure AD connect and not DirSync? Had a quick look for Azure AD connect and it is on about a subscription which you have to pay for.

 

Yeah the Cut Over migration sounds like a good idea. Its only about 200 mailboxes.

Since it is 'one tool to rule them all' it has options for features that may not be available on the free tier of office 365 / Azure AD.

"Azure AD Connect" is the replacement tool for sync'ing AD with Office 365 or Azure AD (which you get as part of Office 365).

The paid for sub i think you're fining is probably talking about Azure AD Premium.

I run free Office 365 and Azure AD Connect with no payment needed.

 

When looking to migrate mailboxes from internal to external look at the staged or cut over migration.
