Sharepoint 2013 - migration

Morning,

 

Apologies if this is a very vague description of what I'm doing/looking for, so please stick with me.

 

I'm currently in the process of developing an intranet style portal on SharePoint 2013. Whilst the server it is to be housed on is being built, I have been instructed to begin development on a 'test' server to familiarize myself with the product. This has been largely successful and I'm now at a stage whereby what I have created (the foundations and core structure of the intranet site) is ready to be added to the designated server.

 

Has anyone extracted and then migrated a SharePoint installation from one server to another, and if so, how complicated is it?
