Windows / Store Box

Hi,

 

Just had some new laptop delivered and have setup all the necessary software on them.

 

The school I help out for a couple of hours a week, would like the me to connect the laptops to their Windows Box system, so they can access the relevant teacher areas when connected to the network.

 

How can I achieve this? Do I nee to run a uitlity on the laptops to connect to the storebox / window box?

I assume that you arfe talking about the RM Window Box solution. AFAIK this is just a way for primaries to buy RM hardware with Windows and a suite of curriculum software all set up and ready to go.

 

The RM Store Box is a discontinued product that was basically just a Windows 2000 Server machine with some file shares on it.

How can I make a link to this? I tried to login with the stndard passwords, but it gave me an access denied message.

 

I just basically want to create a mapped drive for users on their laptop to the store box.

I wiped our storebox a few years' back when I turned it into a vanilla network, but IIRC:

Log onto one of your RM workstations as admin/manager/whatever they call it.

There is a util on there, on the start menu I think, that lets you create an admin password. you should be able to log into your storebox using this password. you'll see it's a normal windows 2000 so you can see the names of the shares and create a username if you want to.

Make sure you include the name of the domain for the server or the name of the server in when you type in the username from the laptops. eg. domain\username
