Quackers Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 If you look at Apples page Apple - OSX Server - Features designed for teamwork. it would imply its going to support SMB3 file sharing on the iPad natively.....
XiJ Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I agree that does look interesting. And would save a lot of pain
Brimstone Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Mac OS X Server already supports file sharing on the iPad via WebDav, the iPad will never support SMB3
Michael Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Mac OS X Server already supports file sharing on the iPad via WebDav, the iPad will never support SMB3 That official link appears to say differently. It's not unrealistic, considering iOS9 is round the corner. It's inevitable Apple will introduce new features/protocols.
Quackers Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Just been reading the OS X Server 5.0 beta release notes . I might download and install to have a play. 'iOS 9 beta users can now easily access and store documents on OS X Server 5.0 beta. Once a share point is created, it can be shared to iOS devices, and made available via apps that support Document Provider API. This allows users to open, edit and save documents from both iOS 9 beta and OS X v10.11 beta. iOS 9 beta users can discover and connect to OS X Server 5.0 beta using Bonjour, a configuration profile or by manual entering a server’s address.' 1
Quackers Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 As i read more, we are going to get an MDM option to force the iPads to upgrade to the latest version of iOS without having to visit each iPad and manually update
