I've noticed that my system seems too be slower than usual and the hosts are not too busy, I think it's the san as disk access isn't that high but the latency is high. The SAN is healthy so I must assume it's something else?

is there a way of defragging a VM? Would I get the OS within the VM to defrag? (would that help?)

should I have a maintenance schedule of sorts for my VM SAN environment?

ESXi 5.5 on 2 ML530 gen 8 hosts using an iscsi P2000 SAN.
