Joanne Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Has anyone got some Toshiba F12 screws I can have? Got a laptop missing a couple. All my donor machines only have F6! D'oh!
Gaz Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Thats surely not a dimensional identification. What does F12 mean? Have you got a picture of one?
Joanne Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I believe they are 12mm long. I've got loads of F6's and 3's too! I've nabbed one out of a spare laptop for now... it gets used less than this one. Thanks though
Gaz Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Put them back in with red loctite if they keep working themselves loose. Not sure where in Lancashire you are but AT engineering can be good for fasteners of all sizes. AT Engineering: Supplying Nuts, Bolts and Tools to the North West of England 1
Joanne Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I'll give them a call, thanks. Have you got laptop screws from them before?
Gaz Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Not for laptops, I gotta admit I don't ever recall having to replace screws in laptops in all my years, what have your pupils been doing to them? I've mainly used them for odd sized nuts and bolts or when I just need to buy one and dont wanna buy a bag of 100 from CPC.
Joanne Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Yeah they are very small.... it's from a staff laptop. Tosh's are notorious for loosening screws from normal use.
Gaz Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Yeah definitely used red loctite then, otherwise you'll just be doing the job again. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Loctite-Lock-Acting-Thread-Sealant/dp/B003ZUXQIA/ref=sr_1_1?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1435070862&sr=1-1&keywords=red+loctite

Gaz Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Talking of Amazon... Estone 800pcs Laptop Screws Set + Screwdriver For IBM Toshiba Sony Dell Samsung Lenovo: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools Not a bad thing to have on had, just not if you are in a hurry. (15-35 days shipping from china). lol
Joanne Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 No hurry really to be honest... I've got a super local supplier I remembered does warranty repairs on Tosh's... so sent them a quick e-mail asking about screws!
difinity Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 They are M2.5 x 12mm wafer head machine screws. I can drop a couple in the post if you like ? 2
Gaz Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 They are M2.5 x 12mm wafer head machine screws. Now thats a language I can understand! Bloody Toshiba... F12... what were they thinking lol.
Joanne Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 F12 is what is printed on the bottom of the case... easy to understand that the 12 is the long one and the 6 is the medium one and 3 is the small one!
difinity Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I've just come back from the post box, you should have them by the weekend. 1
