Dos_Box Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Ok, so this is a BBC article about an E3 announcement from Oculus: VR gamer headset 'tackles motion sickness' - BBC News This is good news If, like me you have had a go on Rift (I had a play on the one Stone Computers had on their stand at BETT) you will know that it is not uncommon to feel very queezy, very quickly, so this is a very welcome announcement albeit being quite vague as to how they did it (for proprietary reasons I presume).
Arreks Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I used a Rift for about 40 minutes and I felt fine, my only complaints was the low quality! I guess that makes me lucky. Good to hear though, I'm looking forward to when their consumer version hits the shelf.

plexer Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 lol @ Sony says its rival VR headset, Project Morpheus, will cost "several hundred dollar". Ben
JRowley Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I honestly think Rift is going to be the biggest let down in gaming history. It's going to turn into a device that you buy at great expensive for that one experience and then abandon it. I don't really see it adding much to any games that do add support for it either, sure being able to experience X gaming world in full 3D is cool but that's going to wear off pretty quick if it has no actual purpose.
LosOjos Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 lol @ Sony says its rival VR headset, Project Morpheus, will cost "several hundred dollar". Ben Really?! That could be a seriously stupid decision - I've been going off the assumption that both Hololens and Morpheus would have to be under £200 to compete with Oculus. Problem is, Oculus will be on PC, so most games* will be compatible with it. Hololens is Microsoft, so aside from working with XB1 is likely to work with Windows too, plus it's a different take on the idea so I could actually see people buying both a VR device and Hololens. Morpheus will very likely be PS4 only, if it's the most expensive of the bunch too, I just can't see it succeeding. Yeah there'll be console only PS4 gamers who will buy them, but surely most people these days play a mixture of console and PC - why would you buy a Morpheus that will only work on PS4 games that happen to support it in that case? * what I mean is, most games supporting VR will get a PC release and will therefore almost certainly work with Oculus

Mate agree with this LOADS! also really bad that without people backing the project on kickstarter the original company would not have made the millions they did when they sold it to Facebook! and not getting any payout the classic example of how it doesn't work in the real world is with Elite, I cant see my keyboard! so I have to take my glasses off to look at buttons. plus, I have had just as much fun with my phone and google cardboard playing Truck sim! although...I have not tried any first person shooters simply because I have a cable attached I don't want to rip the thing from the wall!
