And to top it all off... I am going to gamescom | The trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment

Biggest thing of the event? Bethesda and Fallout 4.

 

Microsoft's Hololens with Minecraft looked amazing. The first gadget that I really, really, want to get.

 

Then Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer as a game. Looks like how Star Wars multi-player games should have always been.

Battlefront looked good as expected.

 

Fallout looked good as expected.

 

The rest weren't really worth my time, and Nintendo was awful!

Battlefront looks shiny but so did BF4 and look what happened there. So very wary of EA turning it into a bug filled mess (and likely business model of slapping Premium on top). It's not like they learned any lessons from BF3 to BF4. Or from BF4 to BFH, a generation I chose to skip but IND Gamers revealed a ton of old bugs dating back to BF3!

 

Nintendo. Mario Maker oh god yes give it to me now! Been looking forwards to this for a long time. Rest of the platform....not so great. Starfox is exciting and a hark back to the original but doesn't look very impressive technically or graphically. Splatoon is already out, Metroid caused lashback and a $100 game (Animal Crossing Party + 4 Amiibos). They are still pushing those plastic figures and wedging them in their games! Nintendo had a good year but this year looks really uninspiring. Muppet Reggie though.

 

Microsoft - Ahhhh no still not convinced.

 

EA - Nothing exciting. Another cash timer game, regular sport updates. FIFA16 = FIFA15 AI bug fix? Womens teams = nice but not exactly revolutionary.
