I bought a Mac home for the holidays to practice video editing using IMovie 5 and I can’t get the audio waveforms to show. I’m on timeline display and there’s a tick against ‘Show Audio Waveforms’ on the view menu so it should work. What am I doing wrong?

I should say the audio waveforms that won't display are from the original video. I've added a soundtrack and the audio waveforms for that display fine.

Go to View and click show audio waveforms.

You could try extracting them as well, but this means they will be separated from the video footage and so both will need to be selected to be edited.

Just to point out, he says that Show Audio Waveforms is ticked in the view menu...
