Changed active directory password now error HELP

We have changed our active directory bind password and wish to change it in the setup page but when we now try to log in we get get a server error. We can't simply change the password that was used in AD as we have gone too deep with other application dependencies. Any help would be much appreciated. In short we need to change the password for active directory but when we access the setup page we get a login failure unknown user name or password.
