I saw "IdleMaster" in the title, and the fact this thread is in the gaming section... and automagically though of The IdolMaster.

What do you mean "safe"? The source code is viewable, so if you know what you're looking at [to verify legitness] you can compile from source.

You can usually just launch the game you want to get the cards for, then alt-tab back to desktop and launch the game you want to play.

there isn't usually much of a performance hit as most games either have a simple launcher that pops up or the menu sin't as demanding as actually running the game.

Much easier and safer than a 3rd party application

so am I right in saying you don't need to play? its just that you are in the game? not even in the game just the menu? I thought the cards were like achievements on the xbox?

As long as steam thinks you are in game, you get the cards. It always shows the first game you launch as the one you are in - hence how you can switch to a different one.

This is basically Steam Achievement Manager for cards. AFAIK using SAM can* get your account banned, so I'd assume this could, too. Especially if it works for games where you get cards when you make purchases (DOTA 2 for example..)

* I say can because I've used Steam Achievement Manager twice over the length of my account, but both times to re-lock achievements when I've come back to a game after a long period of absence. TF2 was one of them, I don't remember the other..
