Any reason why it should take 30mins to shutdown a 2012r2 hyper-v host.

I had a couple of Windows updates that had installed on my 2012r2 host and needed to reboot it. The 2 VM's shutdown almost instantly but the host just sat there at 'Shutting down virtual hyper-v service. I was getting a bit stressed and just at the point I was going to hard reboot but the host rebooted.

 

Any ideas why it would hang for 30mins trying to shutdown the hyper-v service.

Don't know, but it happens to me probably every other holiday with at least one of the physical boxes. Even though I know this, I still get increasingly nervous as time rolls on and I still can't remote back into it...

Heh, funny really; just went to turn mine off this morning to add some RAM and it's been "turning off" for the last 20 minutes. I'll hold on then!
