Static on front audio. New MB and panel. Would it be the case?

Have 25 machines all with the same issue. There is static coming through the front audio ports.

 

Gets worse when you have a USB connected or doing something on the machine.

 

Ive found that if we use a startech add on front panel it does the same.

 

If we use the usb fron the original front panel and the audio from the startech however it disappears.

 

Looking at the circuit of the startech panel there doesnt seem to be any connections going between the audio and USB>

 

Weve tried replacing the motherboard with a different branded one, they are all using SSDs.

 

Any thoughts?

It's been a common issue with on board audio for as long as on board audio has been a thing. What you're hearing is interference from other components on the mobo - this is why different devices being plugged in will produce different characteristics of noise and in some cases you can "hear" the mouse moving (you can't really, you can hear the interference caused by the components processing the mouse movement)

 

It's gotten much better over the years, but Realtek chips still seem to be quite bad for it. The startech panel I'm assuming connects to the mobo headers, so you'll have the same problem as it's still the mobo processing the audio, the panel just provides a more conveniently placed jack.

 

Only real solution is to install a sound card. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, any cheap card should improve matters.

Realtek seems to be a nightmare. Had a few issues with that brand of stuff.

 

Yeah, both panels connect directly into the MB. Just seems strange that when you use the audio from one and the usb from the other it's ok even when you have a usb in or stress testing the cpu.

Can't think of a reason for it.
