Office 2010 & 2013 AutoCorrect File Issues

Hi All,

 

We are currently seeing an unusual issue with our staff laptops in which after upgrading them to 64bit and installing any version of office we have (2010 or 2013) the user is unable to load up office correctly when they are not on the network. This means that the staff members are unable to use their laptops at home since as soon as they open office it prompts them with the following error:

 

Your AutoCorrect file, MSO2057.acl, could not be saved.

The file may be read-only,or you may not have permission to modify the file.

 

If the laptop has a network connection in the school this will not happen as it seems the autocorrect file is kept on our network but we have never had this problem with 32 bit installations so we are quite stumped as to why this is happening only on 64 bit machines. Could anyone suggest why this may be happening and if possible any fixes for this as most articles point to the file being corrupted or broken in some way however this is a case of the file being missing but since it's looking for it on a network that it has no access to placing the file locally doesn't help since it won't look for it locally.

 

Also we have tested this by installing office completely off the domain however as soon as you hook up the laptop to the domain and login as a member of staff if you then unplug the network connection it will give this error.

Although nobody has posted yet we have managed to find a work around here by setting the staff members appdata help on the staff server to be available offline which seems to resolve the issue however as to why this has become a problem with 64 bit we are unsure but at least we have a working fix now. We have not however managed to get it fixed using group policy yet but as 64 bit laptops are quite rare in the school it shouldn't be much of an issue as of yet.

 

If anyone has any other suggestions however please feel free to post them.
