haldarulon Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Wow! I hope its better than OnLive...the concept was there but the streaming was RUBBISH! So another reason to buy the Fire TV (not just KODI) Gamefly has announced the launch of its new streaming service, which is backed by its recent acquisition of Israel-based cloud gaming platform Playcast. "We're excited to offer the GameFly streaming service worldwide with Playcast's market ready and scalable technology," Gamefly CEO David Hodess said. "This represents the perfect evolution of GameFly by extending its mission of providing the highest quality video games available to gamers however they want to play. We are also very pleased to launch on Amazon Fire TV to make the service available to US consumers." The streaming service will be exclusive to Amazon Fire TV for its initial run. "We are thrilled to offer Amazon Fire TV customers exclusive access to GameFly's streaming service," vice president of Amazon Appstore Steve Rabunchin stated. "Amazon Fire TV's quad core processor can enable powerful streaming of GameFly's top quality gaming content, which was previously only available on high powered PC's or consoles." Gamefly was founded in 2002 as a discs by post rental service
X-13 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 input laaaag I played @DMcGuigan's Bloodborne through share-play and there was about 4 seconds input lag. Anything that focuses on reaction speed is going to be unplayable.
haldarulon Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 I got sucked in to the Onlive...it was fine for about the first week (I got it pre release being in the trade at the time!) as soon as it went public.... is all I can say! actually still have an account with them...may give it a try now (although I bet the games are ooooold now!) as no one uses it, the service should be ok!

Arthur Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I thought that the Onlive service went belly up when Sony acquired them? Sony shut Onlive down when they acquired the company, although they did go bankrupt in 2012. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/240393/Sony_buys_OnLives_patents_the_service_and_company_will_shut_down.php
haldarulon Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 Sony shut Onlive down when they acquired the company, although they did go bankrupt in 2012. Gamasutra - Sony buys OnLive's patents; the service, and company, will shut down blinking exam period! I miss all the interesting stuff! you are right... After five years of uninterrupted service, the OnLive Game Service comes to an end. Sony has acquired important parts of OnLive. Due to the sale, all OnLive services were discontinued as of April 30, 2015. As the first-ever game streaming service of its kind, everyone who has ever played a game using OnLive has contributed to the technology and its evolution in some way. We’re immensely proud of what’s been achieved and extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for being a part of the OnLive Game Service. Thank you from all of us at – OL2, Inc. (aka, OnLive)
