LosOjos Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Woman gives rare Apple-1 computer worth $200K to recycling Pretty mind blowing. Wish I was this women right now. You wish you'd just unwittingly given away ~$200k worth of equipment?
Garacesh Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I find it a bit shady that the recycling company are trying to contact the woman after they've sold it on. That's pretty underhanded, I reckon.

LosOjos Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I find it a bit shady that the recycling company are trying to contact the woman after they've sold it on. That's pretty underhanded, I reckon. and only giving half the money to her too To be fair, she donated it - they could have kept quiet and she'd never have known! Also means someone there obviously spotted the value in what they had, so they could have quite easily said "yeah, pile of old circuits, I'll bin it" and pocketed the cash themselves - I doubt anyone in my local charity shop would have a clue! So, could have been a whole lot worse IMO.
Garacesh Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Could've been, but clearly she didn't know what it was or how much it was worth. Should've contacted her first, let her know, and hoped she'd make a donation with the profits (I certainly would if it were me!). She's donating her dead husband's stuff. Clearly, even after her husband has passed and she could've just binned it all, she wants to do the 'right' thing and be helpful. That £200k could do a lot of help. It's nice they're trying to give her half.. and yes they could've done worse (and no doubt plenty of other places have done). But still a little bit shady.
