Scrambles Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Hey All, I have a support call with our LEA and Smoothwall but just wanted to reach out for some collective knowledge whilst I play the waiting game. I came in this morning and the smoothwall box had rebooted and is now coming up saying that the 'Upstream proxy Default has failed.' This is stopping us from getting internet access. I can get out if I bypass the proxy so I do think its our upstream. We are running update 91 if that makes any difference. Any idea's ? Thanks in advance =]
Chris_ Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 We've had the same issue, Smoothwall reports the upstream proxy has failed/returned etc. Our ISP (RM) said that it was an issue with their proxies and the load balancing between them. Apparently they've fixed it now. Do you know who your LEA use for internet?
Scrambles Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 Hi Chris, Sorry for the late reply things were a bit hectic yesterday but it all seems resolved now. In our load balance settings we had a duplicate IP address. I did notice it a while back but it's one of those things I had noticed when I started my new position a few weeks back and just added it to my "To Do" list as it didn't appear to be breaking anything. However, it would seem that one of the latest updates (Which had an area in their change log relating to Load Balancing) decided it no longer liked this. You could see the duplicate IP's on one of our NIC's. So if any one else has somthing similar then have a look at your load balance settings.
