mrbios Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) I need someone to look this over and agree or disagree as to whether it'll do what i need or if i need to change something: Robocopy J:\Share1 H:\Share1 /e /zb /copyall /dcopy:T /r:100 /w:2 /log:C:\Robocopylog-Share1.txt What i need to achieve: An exact copy of the data that's on the source, to the destination, including ownerships, permissions and timestamps. Wasn't sure if i needed to use the switches of /secfix and /timfix at all? also do i need the /mir command? EDIT: In hindsight, the scripts section may have been better for this thread...but then again this is an enterprise application, i guess it works in both areas? Edited May 13, 2015 by mrbios
Chuckster Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 (edited) Robocopy J:\Share1 H:\Share1 /MIR /COPY:DATSOU /R:3 /W:10 /XF *.tmp /Z /LOG:C:\Robocopylog-Share1.txt That's what I use to copy things around. Edited May 13, 2015 by Chuckster 1
sted Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 isnt that what /mir is for something like robccopy c:\stuff\*.* d:\stuff\*.* /mir /r:1 /w:5 (so if a file wont copy retry once wait 5 seconds before retrying)
tmcd35 Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Does the destination contain any files? If it does then /mir will delete anything not found in the source. That copy command looks fine to me. Personally I'd reduce the retries to at most 10. /MT:64 might give a bit of a speed boost (multithreading). /EFSRAW might be handy (encrypted files). /NP might speed things up a bit as well, no need to display progress if you keeping a log? 1

Destination will be empty to start with so no files to overwrite. Thanks for the performance recommendations! EDIT: Ok how about this: Robocopy J:\Share1 H:\Share1 /MIR /COPYALL /R:3 /W:10 /ZB /MT:64 /NP /LOG:C:\Robocopylog-Share1.txt Edited May 13, 2015 by mrbios
mrbios Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) Additional question... I'm thinking about seeding the data to my new store over the weekend to get the most time consuming aspect done, but what command would i run in order to replicate only the changes that have occurred in the source to the new destination? Is this possible? EDIT: Is this correct? ROBOCOPY /MIR /Z /W:5 Edited May 15, 2015 by mrbios
