Toshiba MFDs to sent to external subdomain as well as internal email server

We have an on-site email server - exchange 2010 - which holds the staff email accounts - the MFDs can send to these addresses. We have student email addresses which are hosted on office365 and are a sub domain of our domain - @sub.domain.co.uk. We have had to go through the whole of AD and add our student's email addresses to the email field as we have "contacts" which are held on the exchange server so our student AD accounts dont actually have email enabled accounts.

 

Is there a way for the MFDs to send to external email addresses hosted on Office365? I have spent all yesterday trying to get this to work via our exchange server. I have been into the webserver of the MFD and looked at the SMTP client / SMTP server settings.

 

Settings on the MFD:

SMTP Client:

Emabled SMTP Client: Enabled

Enabled SSL: Disabled

SSL/TLS STARTTLS

SMTP Server Address: *address of the email server*

POP Before SMTP: Disable

Authentication: Disable

Login Name: N/A

Max Email/InternetFax: 30Mb

Port Number: 25

SMTP Client Connection: 60 Seconds

 

SMTP Server

Enable SMTP Sever: Enabled

Port Number: 2525

Email Address: *a noreply email adderss*

Enable OffRamp Gateway: Disable

OffRamp Security: Enable

OffRamp Print: Enable

 

On the Exchange Server i have set up a new Receive Connector under Sever Configuration > Hub transport called MFDs. This has the following set:

NETWORK TAB:

Local IP Addresses to receive mail: *IPAddressOfNIConServer*:2525

Receive mail from remote servers that have these IP Addresses: *IPAddressOfMFD*

 

AUTHENTICATION TAB:

Im not really sure what to set for the Authentication so ive set TLS/ Exchange Server Authentication/Integrated Windows Authentication but i suspect ive got one of these wrong.

 

PERMISSIONS GROUP:

Anonymous Users

 

I've done a bit of digging on the net as others seemed to have this problem however they have managed to get around it with the settings i have mentioned by creating Receive Connector.

 

I have looked at the logs on the MFD (see attached) and seen that the problem is "mailbox unavailable" when sending scans to and email address at @sub.domain.co.uk

 

If anyone knows how to get this to work i would be most grateful

got this working after a little help from the MFD supplier.

 

Disabled the SMTP Server options on the MFDs.

 

In Exchange 2010

Kept the receive connectors in place on Exchange and left it at port 25 instead of 2525 but took out TLS so there is no authentication happening.

 

Organisation Config > Hub Transport > Accepted Domains

- Add new accepted domain >Give it a name and add the domain – set the radio button to External Relay Domain.

 

Tested straight away and no failed messages - office365 received the message.
